United Nations Human Rights – South East Asia Office
The OHCHR Regional Office for South-East Asia was established in Bangkok in 2002 in order to strengthen OHCHR’s presence and partnerships in the region.
The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) hosts the Regional Office under a Memorandum of Intent signed with the High Commissioner for Human Rights in February 2001.
The Regional Office covers Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam. It also supports OHCHR’s work elsewhere in other parts of Asia.
They hold permanent offices is Bangkok, Beijing and Ho Chi Minh City.
Website Development Project
The goal of the website is to establish a news portal, where website visitors can easily locate news, reports & stories about human rights in the South-East Asian region.
Secondly to establish a trustworthy online presence for OHCHR, to showcase their current project activities, additional background information and to provide an easy way to get in touch with the organization.
The new site has a clean and modern design, with modern elements such as parallax image effects and fading on scroll page sections. It has been optimized for search engines, quick loading and has a strengthened security system.
The website has been developed with the WordPress CMS framework, which makes the website easy to update and expand, for example to add news articles and new pages.
